PrisMET BF/DF Metallurgical Microscope

PrisMET Brightfield/Darkfield Metallurgical Microscope

The PrisMET™ Metallurgical Microscope from UNITRON is engineered to deliver precise, high-contrast imaging for demanding materials science and metallurgical applications. Designed for the examination of metals, alloys, coatings, and engineered surfaces, PrisMET provides the advanced illumination techniques required to reveal fine microstructural details with clarity and confidence. Designed for the examination of metals, alloys, coatings, and engineered surfaces, the PrisMET builds on UNITRON’s history in metallurgical analysis with an expanded set of illumination techniques for revealing fine microstructural detail with clarity and confidence.

Reflected brightfield, darkfield, and oblique illumination let users visualize surface topology and micro-features that are often difficult to detect with conventional microscopy, while (optional reflected and transmitted polarization extends analysis to crystalline structures and stress patterns within materials. For applications that call for even finer discrimination, optional reflected-light DIC brings subtle surface variations and grain boundaries into sharp relief. Transmitted brightfield illumination adds further versatility, accommodating thin or semi-transparent specimens alongside opaque metallurgical samples.

Paired with UNITRON's METRICAL image analysis software, the PrisMET turns captured images into actionable data, with more than 14 specialized measurement tools covering grain size, porosity, hardness evaluation, and other standards-compliant metallographic studies. Energy-efficient LED illumination provides consistent, optimal sample lighting without the color-temperature drift common to halogen sources. Featuring semi-APO BF/DF optics, an ergonomic design, and full digital documentation capability, the PrisMET is an outstanding and cost-effective choice for metal manufacturing, metallurgy, wafers, optoelectronics, composites, microelectronics, and materials science laboratories across industry and research.
